BIO
Rebecca Gonsalves is an artist from San Francisco whose work reflects a lifelong passion for creativity nurtured by her family, especially her grandmother. Growing up surrounded by the energy of the city and guided by her grandmother’s lessons in drawing and crafts, Rebecca developed an early love for art that stayed with her through childhood and beyond.
Though she studied Fashion and Merchandise Marketing, Rebecca’s artistic journey is largely self-directed, driven by intuition and a deep fascination with color, texture, and city life. After spending time balancing motherhood and corporate work, she explored other creative outlets such as perfume and soap making, always maintaining a connection to self-expression.
A pivotal moment came when she reconnected with a childhood crush, and fellow artist, who is now her husband and a driving force in her creativity. His encouragement inspired Rebecca to pursue drawing and painting more fully. Her art often begins with simple doodles that evolve into vivid, emotionally rich characters and scenes drawn from her imagination rather than from direct observation.
Her portfolio is growing and includes pieces that hold special meaning, such as a collage of spontaneous doodles and an image of a powerful Modern Queen. Although not yet widely exhibited, Rebecca shares her work online, aiming to inspire connection, playfulness, and emotional reflection in her audience.
Beyond art, Rebecca embraces creativity in many forms:
1. Caring for an extensive collection of plants
2. Crafting fine fragrances and soaps
3. Enjoying fashion and styling others
4. Cooking with the same artistic sensibility she brings to her illustrations
For Rebecca, creativity is a way of living and engaging with the world.
Her goal as an artist is to spark imagination and invite people of all ages to pause, feel, and see the world through a colorful, compassionate lens.
